About
Writing Journey
Karen Van Den Hooven had to face the unthinkable, to explain to her children that she was dying and to help them accept her death somehow.
After reading the literature and help guides, Karen knew she wanted her boys to hear her own words and gentle guidance during this time and even after her passing.
Karen wrote them a story to help them understand and express their feelings.
Her story is one of love continuing after death and of her connection to them which will always be available to them.
Karen wrote this book for the hard times when a loving mother's gentle words are needed.
Knowing the many experiences and layers of grief she continued with the series 'Love is bigger from heaven' which captures so many of the moments a child could use some gentle guidance through grief & loss.
This series of books gently and lovingly guide children through some of the many experiences of profound grief and each book is helpful in loving coping techniques

About the Author, Karen van Den Hooven
Karen wrote for her babies to help them grieve her loss so she could continue to mother them from heaven.
At the young age of 37, Karen was given the shocking diagnosis of terminal cancer after a routine procedure.
The first book in this series, 'My mummy lives in my heart' is the story she wrote for her children to help them understand cancer, being unwell and ultimately to form the language and coping strategies for her passing.
Karen wanted to be the one to help her babies through the most difficult event of their life, even after hers ended.
These are the words of a loving mum who knew that when she was no longer here to help her children, her loving words could.
